St George's Primary School, Portland, Dorset

St George's Primary School PTA

Chairperson: Sian Thomas-Cutts
Secretary: Sarah-Jo Smith
Treasurer: Janet Guy

The PTA (Parent and Teacher Association) brings together parents, carers and teachers to raise money and to support the school. It provides an opportunity for everyone to work together and is open to all parents, carers and teachers, even those who only have a small amount of time available to get involved.

The PTA fundraise for the benefit of every child at St George’s School and it is a great way for parents and carers to become more involved with the school.

Summary of PTA benefits

  • Raising funds to help school provide extra resources for pupils
  • Running social events for parents and children, providing an opportunity for people to meet and get to know each other
  • Providing support for school trips, outings and other special events
  • Organising meetings to inform parents about education issues, especially when changes are taking place

PTA meetings are an informal chat, normally taking place once or twice a term; the times are usually alternated between afternoons (in time to pick the children up) and evenings.

We are always looking for new members and support with fresh ideas. If you are able to offer your support in any way, come along to a meeting or if you are unable to, but would like to help in other ways please get in touch via the school.
