Year Two

There are two year two classes.  Mrs Bishop is a full time teacher in 2B, supported by Mrs Edney (teaching assistant) and Ms Smith (lunchtime supervisor).  In 2BT Mrs Bates and Mrs Terrey job-share (0.5 each) supported by Mrs Souster (teaching assistant) and Ms Pope (lunchtime supervisor).

(In 2BT Mrs Bates will teach on Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays, with Mrs Terrey teaching alternate Wednesdays, Thursday and Friday)

This Term

This term we are studying the travels of Barnaby Bear to coincide with our topic of 'Around the World'.  Later in the term we will learn about the Netherlands.  We will find out about Dutch life including some of the traditional foods eaten there.  In Science we are learning about healthy foods in preparation for designing our own healthy meal.

Messages

We have PE on Tuesdays in the hall and Friday afternoons outdoors (weather permitting).  Please ensure your child has a full PE kit for these sessions with his/her name on each item.

Homework

Spellings:  Spelling lists will be given out on Monday and all pupils will be tested on the following Friday.

Number:  Number bond homework will be given out on Fridays (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems) and this will need to be completed and handed in the following Monday.

Reading:  All pupils are expected to regularly practise reading at home.  When your child has completed his or her reading book it will be changed.  Please place book bags in the Reading Book box in the conservatory.

Show and Tell

Children are encouraged to participate in Show and Tell.  This will be on Monday for both classes.

Drinks

We encourage pupils to bring a drink in addition to their lunchtime drink.  This should be water or squash - please label the bottle with your child's name.

Lost Property

This will be stored in a box in the year 2 conservatory.
