Supporting your child with letters and sounds

One of the schemes we use to teach children about letters and sounds is called ‘Jolly Phonics’. You can find a great deal of information about the scheme on the internet. One site that is particularly useful is:

http://www.jollylearning.co.uk/2007_UKGuide.pdf

This site needs Adobe Acrobat/ Reader version 8 or 9. If you are unable to access this site then a HTML version is available. Just type ‘Information for parents about Jolly Phonics’ into the search engine. Then open 2007 UK Parent/Teacher Guide

This site gives you a good overview of the phonic program and includes some resources that you can use with your child and also lists others that you could purchase either online (e.g. Amazon) or from shops e.g. Early Learning Centre.

Another useful site is : www.jollylearning.co.uk/jp.htm
